Thank you for making choices for lots of alternatives! Now, its time to determine which (if any) of these alternatives will be used.
To do this, we ask you choose a number between 1 and 10.
If your guess matches a number selected by our server -- a value that is chosen before you submit your guess -- we will then randomly select an alternative.
We will use your choice in this alternative, and compute
your earnings. These earnings will be added to your $50.00 participation payment.
If your guess does not match this number -- no alternatives are used. You will recieve just your $50.00 participation payment.
Can you trust us? We use a cryptographically secure method -- using the validation key displayed below --to guarantee that the value chosen by the server is not changed.
This validation key can be easily checked using readily available tools. Click the ? button below for further details (after you make your guess)!
When you are ready to start,
The validation key is:
Please select a value between 1 and 10:

Is your guess correct?

To help randomly chose either the first or second outcome, from one of the alternatives, please ...
Chose a value between 1 and 1000:
the randomly selected alternative will be shown here!

the randomly selected outcome will be shown here!

The actual value is:

How we guarantee validity...
The actual value ...
Before you submit your guess, the server selects an actual value. It then uses the MD5hash function to create a validation key that depends on this actual value.
You can recreate this validation key, using any MD5 function or app (for example, at http://onlinemd5.com/).
First: create a validation string by combining the actual value, an underscore, and our randomly selected nonce value.
Second: use this validation string as an input to an MD5 function
The result should match the validation key!
If it doesn't match? Please make sure your validation string is exactly as specified -- there should not be any spaces before or after!
If it still doesn't match-- that means we might of cheated ☹.
The randomly chosen alternative ...
We use the same nonce value (), and the numeric value you entered, to randomly chose which alternative
to use.
Convert each character in the nonce to its ascii value (for example 1 has an ascii value of 49).
Sum up these values
Add the numeric value you chose
Divide this sum by the number of altenatives (), and keep the remainder.
Add one to the remainder -- and that is the alternative to use
For this nonce:
The ascii values of each character are: , with a sum =
Your chosen numeric value is:
Adding the above = which yields a remainder of
Thus: alternative is used
The randomly chosen outcome (within the chosen alternative )...
We use the same nonce value (), and your odd or even guess, to randomly chose which outcome to use.
Count the number of numeric digit (0 to 9) characters
Compare that to your guess of odd or even
If your guess is correct, the first outcome is used
If your guess is not correct, the second outcome is used
For this nonce:
There are numeric digits, which is an number
You guessed
Thus: the outcome is used
For this demo, you can enter an infinite number of guesses -- just click on the button to try again!
